With bold, zealous courage true principle main-
tain;
In all things consistent the party sustain;
Search deep in the mines of political lore;
Cull each heap of rubbish, its secrets explore;
On intrigue descend with the weight of great
truth,
Nor vice pass unnoticed in aged or youth.
Shun slander of foes: no strength can be gained
In vile fabrications by pens vilely trained:
No party can prosper by falsehood sustained.
Democracy! sweet is the word to the ear;
Enraptured are thousands its accents to hear.
March on, Great Democracy, to victory o’er all
On each side of this great terraqueous ball.
Convince deep hatred; enrapture thy foes;
Raise captives to freedom, and solace their woes,
All conquering, triumphant Democracy live;
To all equal rights, equal privilege give.
